Lego was a HUGE part of my childhood. I can still remember the first sets I got, especially the Rescue-1 Helicopter and the Futron Auxiliary Patroller. In fact, I have both those sets built and sitting on my desk today. My mom made damn sure I never sold or gave away my childhood Lego, and while I was never really tempted to try, I am still thankful she did.

I even had a special Lego suitcase thing to bring by bricks on the road with me, and instead of being grounded or sent to my room, I was frequently punished by being forbidden to play with my Lego.

Here I am instructing my uncle Daniel on the finer points of the brick in Houston, TX

Looking back at the old photos there was no shortage of pictures of my posing proudly with my latest rainbow creation. These are just a few.

This is shortly after we moved to Minnesota. I have no idea what that is, but I am going to guess submarine.

This is myself and my friend Chris Tourek, at some Lego event at the Metrodome ages ago.

I eventually started to get the whole “color-coordination” thing down, which resulted in this X-Winglike creation

After college I used some of my new-found spending money to augment my collection a little, and that trend continues to today. I’m now part of a local adult Lego club, called TWINLUG, or the Twin Cities Lego Users Group.

Here I am with some of my more recent work at the Midwest Comic Book Association’s FallCon 2009.

My work has progressed at least a little bit…

This is a Battletech-inspired mech I built last year.

And here we have a microscale zoo I built for TWINLUG’s Micropolis group layout.

The zoo actually won me some free Lego in a contest!  I don’t see myself putting away the Lego anytime soon, in fact I just bought some more today!
